How to Find Designers,
Consultants, Contractors, and Suppliers

The best place to start looking for professional assistance with your project is with your peers. Take every opportunity to ask for recommendations.

Professional help for your project comes in many shapes and sizes. You might find a management consultant who will subcontract design and construction. In other cases, some cabinetry and optical display suppliers offer office design as part of their package. Office designers sometimes specialize in interior only. Some are linked with contractors. And other designers offer pre-design planning, exterior and/or interior design, project liaison and marketing.

Ask independent practice management consultants for office design recommendations. Good consultants see a variety of projects around the country and can have excellent unbiased information.

Visit practices that have completed expansion projects. You will have an outstanding opportunity to look for new ideas, interview staff and doctors about the process as well as the outcome. Be sure to ask the tough questions about working with the group they chose, and the results in terms of practice growth and return on investment.

We recommend that in addition to talking to your peers, talk to two or three different design groups. It is important to have good communication with the designer and therefore a genuine comfort with the group that will have such an impact on your future well-being.
